NEPRA imposes penalty on KESC on failing to deliver

ISLAMABAD: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has imposed a penalty of Rs600,000 on poor performance.
According to a statement issued by NEPRA, it if for the first time that the Authority has imposed a penalty on a utility.
It said KESC had failed to restore power supply in Karachi on June 17 and 18, 2009 and the city had to remain powerless for 18 hours. The consumers and media severely criticized the performance of KESC.
NEPRA warned KESC that even more punitive action will be taken against the utility if it continued to frustrate its consumers in future.
