KARACHI:
Sindh High Court (SHC) stayed Karachi’s district government to receive infrastructure tax and set November 3 for further hearing of the petition against this tax, Geo News reported Friday.
The petitioner Syed Ashraf Hussain opined in the petition that City Government made it binding on all its departments not to sanction the transfer, sell or purchase of any property in Karachi, until the infrastructure tax is not paid against this property.
The petitioner’s counsel Syed Abdul Waheed Hussaini told the court that this tax is legally controversial and that such strict orders as these cannot be given regarding the issue being heard at the court.
The court issued the interim stay order and directed the various departments of the District Government and Government of Sindh to submit their response by November 3.
